Created in 1996, the Stanislaus County Auto Theft Taskforce (StanCATT) is a multi-jurisdictional law enforcement program setup to investigate, arrest, and prosecute career criminals responsible for Stanislaus County, California, Vehicle thefts.

 

StanCATT's PRIMARY OBJECTIVES ARE:

l Locate, investigate, arrest and prosecute career auto theft.

l    Reduce vehicle theft and increase stolen vehicle recovery.

l    Identify and investigate suspicious business locations for chop shop activities.

l    Provide a centralized location for vehicle theft investigations, expertise, assistance and cooperation.

l    Provide a centralized location to train local police agencies and insurance companies special investigation units.

l    Identify, evaluate and document various trends and patterns of vehicle theft.

l    Interface with local law enforcement, the public, and private industry.

l    Provide a public awareness forum through training and the local media.
