PATTERSON, CA - The Patterson Police Department will be conducting a DUI/Drivers License checkpoint on Friday, June 26 and Saturday June 27, 2009 and Friday July 10 and Saturday July 11, 2009 from 7 pm to 11 pm, on a major City highway. In an effort to reduce the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol involved crashes, DUI checkpoints are conducted to identify offenders and get them off the street, as well as educate the public on the dangers of impaired driving.
The goal is to warn people of the dangers and consequences of driving while impaired. Every 39 minutes and nearly 40 times a day, someone in the United States dies in an impaired driving-related crash according to research by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

- Before drinking, please designate a sober driver and give that person your keys;
- If you’re impaired, use a taxi, call a sober friend or family member, or use public transportation so you are sure to get home safely;
