DETECTIVES LOOKING FOR PERSON OF INTEREST IN MAY 3 HOMICIDE

MODESTO, CA - Sheriff’s Detective are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a person of interest in the shooting incident that occurred in the early morning hours on May 3, 2009. Detectives are looking for Rosendo Barrera MARTINEZ, 10-10-1990 of Modesto, as a person of interest. MARTINEZ is described as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 160 pounds, black hair, and brown eyes.

The shooting happened shortly after 1:00AM Sunday morning behind the auction yard on Main Street and Pecos Avenue. As deputies arrived on scene, they located two male victims in there 20’s that had been shot. One of the victims was unconscious inside of a vehicle as the vehicle began to catch on fire. Two deputies were able to pull the victim out of the burning vehicle before he sustained further injuries from the fire. Both shooting victims were transported to Modesto area hospitals. One victim, Gregory Thornhill 24-years-old of Modesto, died Wednesday from his injuries, and the second victim has been released from the hospital.
