DISASTER EXERCISE IN STANISLAUS COUNTY - MARCH 23-24, 2009

March 19, 2009

STANISLAUS COUNTY, CA - The Stanislaus County Office of Emergency Services (OES), the City of Riverbank, City of Oakdale, Tri-Dam Project, N.O.A.A. / N.W.S., Oak Valley Hospital District and the California Emergency Management Agency will participate in a joint disaster exercise on Monday, March 23 and Tuesday March 24. The event will simulate a spillover at the New Melones Reservoir causing flooding that would impact areas along the Stanislaus River.

The Cities of Riverbank and Oakdale will be activating their Emergency Operations Centers as will Stanislaus County as part of the exercise.

Some residents might also receive an automated telephone message from the County OES as part of the exercise. Local public safety agencies handed out survey forms to neighborhoods that are targeted to receive the automated telephone message. The Stanislaus County Office of Emergency Services is urging residents to respond to the survey and return it to their local police or fire station, or at City Hall in Riverbank or Oakdale. The survey is to check if the notification system worked properly and notification was completed in an acceptable amount of time.
