SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT TO DELIVER FOOD AND TOYS TO FAMILIES

December 22, 2008

MODESTO, CA - Members of the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department with the help of the California Highway Patrol, and the Turlock Rural Fire Department will deliver food and toys to 42 families throughout Stanislaus County tomorrow. The Sheriff’s Department Employee Foundation came up with the idea of adopting families who might need a little extra holiday cheer. Over the past month, employees with the Sheriff’s Department have been colleting clothes and toys. The Modesto office of the California Highway Patrol also donated a large van full of toys. “This is just a way for us to give a little back to the community this year,” said Sheriff’s Employee Foundation President Kristi Ah You.

The Sheriff’s Employee Foundation also bought 42 holiday dinners that will be delivered with the toys on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 starting at 10:00 am. Several units within the Sheriff’s Department, including the K-9 Team, Bomb Team, Swat Team, Air Support Unit, and Sheriff Adam Christianson will help deliver the toys and dinners. The Modesto office of the California Highway Patrol and the Turlock Rural Fire Department will also be assisting in the delivery of the dinners and toys.

The media is invited to attend this event and ride along with any of the delivery teams. Please arrive at the Sheriff’s Main Office located at 250 E. Hackett Rd, Modesto, CA by 9:30 am if you wish to ride along with one of the delivery teams.
