DETECTIVES LOOKING FOR SUSPECTS IN ATTEMPTED MURDER CASE

December 8, 2008

RIVERBANK, CA - Detectives from Riverbank Police Services are asking for the public’s help in locating 2 suspects wanted in a December 3, 2008 attempted murder case. Detectives are looking for Victor ZAPIEN, 20-years-old, and Joseph RUIZ, 17-years-old, both from the Riverbank area.

Detectives say that the adult male victim was at a house in the 5600 block of Rose Brook Way in Riverbank, when he attempted to intervene in an argument between his girlfriend and the girlfriend’s adult daughter. After the argument, the victim and his girlfriend attempted to leave the house. They both got into a vehicle that was parked in the driveway of the home. As they were getting ready to leave, another vehicle pulled up behind the vehicle in the driveway. Detectives believe ZAPIEN and RUIZ exited the second vehicle and walked up to the passenger side of the vehicle in the driveway, where the victim was sitting. One of the suspects opened the vehicle door and began stabbing the victim, while the other suspect held the victim down in the passenger seat. The victim was able to get out of the vehicle and run to safety inside the garage of the house. Both suspects then fled the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital and treated for his injuries. He was released a few days later.

Detective are also looking for Adolfo Rodriguez, 24-years-old, as a person of interest in this case.
