The Substation is open from 10 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday.

The Keyes Substation had its grand opening in April 1996. The substation is approximately 1600 square feet, divided up between a front office and a larger meeting room in the rear. The meeting room is host to the Keyes Municipal Advisory Committee (MAC) which meets on the third Wednesday of the month. Volunteers from the Sheriff's Office STARS program and the Keyes Neighborhood watch work in the Substation.

The Substation is easy to find as its located in the north end of the building that houses the Keyes Supermarket. You can not miss the 8 X 4 foot sign on top of the entrance.

The Substation is a home away from home for many who would serve the community. American Medical Response (AMR) often stages its ambulances at the Substation. The area officer, Clayton Brewer, for the California Highway Patrol calls the substation his home.

Keyes has a population of approximately 3300 in the Keyes Fire and Water Districts. Keyes is the home to one elementary school (K-8). There are plans for future growth in the community. Approximately 400 new homes, as well as a junior high school, are in the future.
