Chief Bill Pooley began his full-time career in law enforcement in 1990 with the Sonora Police Department. He was hired by the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department in 1994. He worked as a Patrol Deputy, Street Crimes Detective and as an Agent for the Stanislaus County Drug Enforcement Agency. Bill was promoted to Sergeant in 2005. As a Sergeant, he was assigned to supervise Patrol, The Central Valley HIDTA Drug Taskforce and Acted as the in Chief of Police for the City of Hughson. After being promoted to Lieutenant in 2007 he was assigned as a Patrol Watch Commander and now serves as the Chief of Police for Riverbank Police Services. |

| Law enforcement services for the City of Riverbank are performed under contract with the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department. Patrol, general investigations, traffic enforcement, crime prevention and business office functions are performed by personnel assigned to Riverbank Police Services. A wide array of services are also provided by specialized units operating from the Sheriffs Operations Center on Hackett Rd. in Modesto; these services include the investigation of felony assaults, crimes against children, fraud, narcotics, gang and street crimes, along with specialized crime prevention and youth services programs. | |
