This document discusses the history of California-based gangs, and will help you identify types of gangs and signs of gang involvement. This booklet includes information on what you and your community can do to prevent and decrease gang activity. It is designed to answer key questions about why kids join gangs and the types of gang activities in which they may be involved. It suggests actions that concerned individuals, parents, educators, law enforcement, community members and local government officials can take and provides additional resource information.
