PUBLIC SAFETY CENTER - Visitation

 

Inmates are encouraged to maintain relationships with family and friends. Visiting is scheduled on a regular basis, limited only by the physical and personnel constraints of the Stanislaus County Adult Detention Facilities.
VISITATION HOURS

REGULAR VISITING WILL BE DAILY, except for Wednesday, depending on inmate's last name.

Visiting Hours are to be as follows:

A - C 8:00a.m. - 9:30a.m. 
D - G 9:30a.m. - 11:00a.m. 
H - L 12:30p.m. - 2:00p.m.  
M - O 2:00p.m. - 3:30p.m.
P - R 3:30p.m. - 5:00p.m. 
S - Z 8:00p.m. - 9:30p.m.

They will be allowed a minimum of two (2) thirty (30) minute visits per week to maintain relationships with family and friends.  The visiting week will start Thursday and end on Tuesday.

Two visitors may visit an inmate at the same time, providing all visitors register together.  As a general rule, three children, under the age of 10 may visit with an adult and not be counted as a visitor.

Family contact visits are available if an inmate meets the following guidelines:

  • Has been classified at the Public Safety Center to a minimum security housing unit.

  • No Incident Report has been written against the inmate for violating visiting rules.

You must fill out the INMATE VISITOR REQUEST FORM to receive approval for visiting an inmate. 


MINIMUM SECURITY FAMILY CONTACT VISITS WILL BE HELD ON SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS. 

MINIMUM SECURITY FAMILY CONTACT VISITS WILL BE HELD AT THE MINIMUM SECURITY FACILITY LOCATED EAST OF THE MAIN FACILITY. VISITORS SHOULD ARRIVE AT LEAST 15 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE SCHEDULED VISITING TIME IN ORDER TO BE PROCESSED.

Inmates housed at Minimum Housing will be allowed two 30-minute visits, one inmate per day.  Visitors will sign up 15 minutes prior to the visit, at the Minimum Security Housing Unit Visiting Center.  They may not bring anything to the visiting area as there will be no storage lockers.  Visitors will be limited to three (3) persons per inmate.  They must be members of the inmate's immediate family, such as mother, father, brother, sister, husband, children, boyfriend or grandparent.  If there is no family in this area, then one (1) friend may substitute.

  1. All fields on the visitor request form must be complete and legible. if all fields are not complete and legible the PSC will not accept the form..

  2. Visit request forms will be available in the lobby of the PSC and online at www.stanislaussheriff.com. Visit forms will be accepted at any facility or can be mailed directly to the appropriate facility..

  3. Visitor applicants must present a valid governmental identification that depicts, at a minimum, the bearers name, date of birth, physical description, and signature at the time of visitor application. Additionally, visitors must present their valid governmental identification each time they request to visit with an inmate. Any person who falsely identifies themselves to gain admittance to a Stanislaus County detention facility is guilty of a misdemeanor and may be prosecuted (California Penal Code Section(s) 4570.5)

  4. Under most circumstances the visitor approval clerk will review all requests for approval within 48 to 72 hours from the time of submission.

  5. Visitor applicants who have been incarcerated in a county facility may not visit within 30 days of their release date and cannot have any pending court cases. Visitor must not be on any type of probation or parole. Any visitor who has been confined in a Stat Prison Facility cannot visit for 5 years from their last prison release date.

  6. Inmates may only have a total of six approved visitors. Minor children do not need to be submitted for approval and do not count towards the approved visitors.

  7. Minor children being brought to visit an inmate must be the child of the visitor or the child of the inmate incarcerated at the PSC. A valid birth certificate will need to be presented at the window each time the visitor visits. If a visitor is not the parent but has legal guardianship of the minor a birth certificate and legal guardianship documents from the courts will need to be presented at the window each time the visitor visits.

  8. Visitors who are unable to adequately supervise their children while inside the facility will not be allowed to visit and asked to leave the facility. Visitors who are disruptive or cause disturbances that result in a crime may be arrested. If a visitor is escorted from the facility for disruptive behavior, the visitor will be denied approval to visit until re-approved by the facility commander.

  9. An inmate may refuse to see a visitor.

  10. Visitors must conform to the dress code approved by the facility commander and posted in the inmate informational guide available in each living area and in public lobbies. Displays by visitors of gang colors, symbols, marks or attire representing gang affiliation are strictly forbidden in visiting areas.

  11. Suspension of regular visitation for reasons of safety, security or under exigent circumstances may occur at the direction of the shift supervisor or facility commander.

  12. Visitors who aid or assist, or attempt to aid or assist, an inmate escape from jail will be permanently banned from visitation and may be prosecuted under California law (California Penal Code Section(s) 4534, 4535, 4550).

  13. Bringing firearms, explosives, alcoholic beverages, narcotics, and controlled substances into a detention facility is a crime and cause for arrest (California Penal Code Section(s) 2772, 2790, 4573, 4573.5, 4573.6, 4573.8, 4573.9, 4574).

  14. Visitors who appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be allowed to visit and may be subject to arrest.

  15. Cameras, radios, portable phones, video/audio recording devices, purses, bags, baby strollers, car seats, diaper bags, oversized hats, keys, backpacks, briefcases, wallets, food or drink, or similar objects that could be used to compromise facility security are banned from visiting and secure perimeter areas within the grounds of the facility (official visitors may be exempt and exceptions to this policy may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the facility commander).

  16. Visitors will not give to or take anything from an inmate. (California Penal Code Section(s) 2540, 2541, 4570, 4570.1)

  17. Any person found to be communicating, in any manner, with an inmate other than the inmate they signed up to visit may constitute a crime and may be cause for arrest (California Penal Code Section(s) 4570, 4570.1).

  18. Any visitor who destroys, damages or defaces any facility property will lose approval of visiting privileges and be escorted from the facility. If the damage is determined to be a crime, the visitor may be arrested (California Penal Code 4600).

  19. Visitors entering a Stanislaus County detention facility may be subject to a search of their person, vehicle or property. The type and scope of the search will be based on the facility and the potential access the visitor has to the facility or inmates.

  20. Hostages will not be recognized for bargaining purposes during escape attempts by inmates.

  21. Visitors may only visit one inmate per day. Visiting week is Thursday through Tuesday with no visiting on Wednesday. Visiting hours are listed in the PSC lobby..

VISITOR SEARCH
  1. When there is reasonable suspicion that a visitor is concealing contraband, a Deputy / Sergeant will advise the visitor that they will not be allowed to enter the Facility for a visit without submitting to an unclothed search.
  2. The Deputy / Sergeant will verbally advise the visitor of their right to refuse an unclothed search.
  3. In the event the visitor refuses the search, the visitor will be allowed to leave the Facility, losing their visiting privilege on that date only.
  4. In the event the visitor agrees to the unclothed search, the visitor will be required to sign a Consent to Search form.
  5. An incident or crime report will be written by the staff member conducting the search of the visitor, indicating the reason for the search, and what, if anything, was found. The Consent to Search form will be attached with the incident report.
  6. Any criminal conduct by a visitor may result in their arrest.

 

VISITATION DEFINITIONS

Regular Visit - A visit between an inmate and family members, friends, and associates.

Contact Visit - communications in a supervised area.- A visit between an inmate and immediate family members which permits informal visitation.

Official Visit - with attorney or other officials, i.e., law enforcement agents, Parole / Probation agents, psychiatrists, physicians, clergy, etc.- A contact or a non-contact visit, depending on the circumstances, between the inmate and the visitor.

Court Ordered Visit -  All court orders for inmate visits are to be referred to the Facility Commander for review.- A special visit for an inmate requested by a Judge of the Municipal or Superior Court Judge.

Special Visit - with their family members, friends, and associates who have traveled a long distance and / or are unable to visit during regularly scheduled visiting hours.- A contact or non-contact visit, depending on the circumstances, between an inmate and their visitor.

Rules for Visiting - Regulations regarding visiting for inmates and visitors which are enforced by Adult Detention Facility personnel. The rules are posted in the Adult Detention Facilities visiting sign-in areas and housing areas.

All fields on the Visitor Request Form must be complete and legible.  If all fields are not complete and legible the receiving deputy will not accept the visit form.  The receiving deputy will submit the completed visit request form to the visit clerk for review.

The visitor approval clerk will review all requests for approval and return a copy of the visitor approval form notifying the inmate which visitors are approved or disapproved to visit.  Under most circumstances, visit request forms will be reviewed by the visit clerk within 24 hours, but no later that 72 hours, from the time of submission.  Special visits may occur prior to the approval process with the approval of the shift supervisor.
