Although acceptance or denial is based on several different factors, all of the Jail Alternative programs are fundamentally designed for low-risk offenders and are evaluated on a case by case basis.

HOME DETENTION

 ALTERNATIVE WORK PROGRAM (AWP)

WORK FURLOUGH

This program allows a person to serve their sentence in the confines of their residence and allowances can be made to attend their regular employment or school. A non-refundable $50 application fee is charged. Upon acceptance the cost is $20 for each day of the commitment. Weekly, bi-weekly or monthly payments are available. Every applicant must complete an application, supply all necessary supporting documents, and pay the application fee. This should be done immediately after sentencing to ensure the application process can be completed prior to your jail surrender date.  In some instances this program may be transferable to other counties within California.

This program involves community improvement projects and is labor oriented.  You must be able to perform manual labor without medical restrictions.  Although it may be possible for you to keep your regular job, we are not obligated to schedule your AWP around your work hours. The program is limited to persons who have 90 days or less to serve. A non-refundable application fee of $50 is charged. Upon acceptance, the cost is $10 for each day of the commitment, payable in full on the day of placement. All applicants must complete an application, pay application fee and supply all necessary documents including a proper identification.

This should be done immediately after sentencing to ensure the application process can be completed prior to your jail surrender date.

The Alternative Work Program is not transferable to other counties.

This program, although not used frequently, allows a person to leave jail to attend their regular job and then return to jail each day.  A non-refundable $50 application fee is charged. Upon acceptance the cost is $20 for each day of work.  All applicants must complete an application, supply all necessary supporting documents, and pay the application fee. This should be done immediately after sentencing to ensure the application process can be completed prior to your jail surrender date.
