The
Mens Honor Farm is located fourteen miles southwest
of Modesto in rural Stanislaus County. The Honor Farm was
relocated and opened at its current site in 1967.
Two of the eighty-six bed barracks were lost to fire in
1977. One of the barracks was restored and in 1986 the
county obtained a salvaged military building and moved it
onto an area immediately adjacent to the barracks lost to
fire. This building, along with three eighty-six bed
barracks are utilized today. The Average inmate
population is 350. The Honor Farm houses sentenced inmates and selected pretrial inmates. Located in a rural setting, inmates housed here have the ability to participate in outdoor exercise and are permitted open area visits with relatives and friends. Inmates are expected to participate in work crews assigned to maintenance or highway cleanup work. |
