POLICY & LEGISLATIVE MANAGER    

 

Gina Leguria is a graduate of California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo where she majored in Agriculture Business Management. She began her career with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Business Services.  During her tenure at LLNL she earned a Master’s in Business Administration from Golden Gate University in San Francisco.  In 1996 she accepted a position with the Stanislaus County Chief Executive Office where she served as a manager in Human Resources and successfully negotiated numerous labor contracts.

Gina attended University of Pacific Mc George School of Law and graduated in 1999 with a Juris Doctorate.  After passing the bar exam in 1999, she practiced labor and employment law with the Office of Stanislaus County Counsel.  In 2005 Gina accepted a position with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department as the Legislative and Policy Manager.  She is responsible for developing and advocating for legislative issues affecting all of law enforcement.  She works closely with the California State Sheriff’s Association legislative team in Sacramento to ensure the interests of law enforcement are well served.  Gina oversees policy development for the department, with an eye on accreditation standards from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).

Gina’s first love is training.  She is graduate of the POST Master Instructor Development Program where she developed an Incident Command Management course.  She has also developed courses in Preventing Workplace Harassment, Basic Supervision and Employee Discipline.  She is an Instructor with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Regional Training Center where she teaches the Field Training Officer course, Academy Instructor Certificate course, and numerous Academy Learning Domains.  Gina has taught at California State University Stanislaus and is a Certified Trainer for 4MAT Master Training Design™, an instructional model for adult learning.
