MEDIA RELATIONS
Public Information Officer
Royjindar (Raj) Singh
 Deputy Royjindar Singh started with the Sheriff’s Department in October of 2004 and has worked in the Adult Detention Division assigned to the Men’s Honor Farm and Downtown Jail. Prior to the Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Singh worked for the City of Turlock for six years in several different departments and as Captain at a local volunteer fire department. He also is an instructor for the county in the National Incident Management System.

Deputy Royjindar Singh is currently assigned as the Public Information Officer in the Media Relations Unit. His duties include answering questions from the media and public, conducting press briefings and press releases, giving tours, and implementing new crime prevention programs and tools using the Sheriff’s Department website. Deputy Singh is also the Sheriff’s Department’s co-coordinator for the Modesto Area Crime Stoppers program. Deputy Singh can be reached at (209) 567-4401.

The Sheriff's Departments Media Relations Unit serves as a central source of information for release by the Sheriff's Department and responds to requests for information from the news media and the community. The Media Relations Unit is responsible for maintaining an open flow of communication with local, national, and international media entities to provide accurate information to the public concerning Sheriff operations.

Deputy Royjindar Singh is assigned to the Media Relations Unit full time. Other members of the Sheriff's Department are available to assist him when he is on assignment. The scheduled hours of operation for this unit are seven days a week, including holidays. Unit personnel are available 24 hours a day to respond to serious incidents and/or media requests. The Media Relations Unit is located within the headquarters building of the Sheriff's Department. The Media Relations Unit is part of the Administration Division and answers directly to the Sheriff.
